Randy Orton is part of the elite group of WWE stars sidelined due to an injury and it was believed he would be out for quite some time, but that may not be the case.

While his shoulder injury is indeed true, the neck surgery part was not.

Orton belied claims that he would be getting neck surgery once his shoulder heels, something first reported by Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer.

The initial report led many to believe that "The Viper's" return would likely take some time, especially if one considers wrestlers who had to take some time off due to a similar injury. That includes John Cena and Daniel Bryan, both of whom successfully returned from the career-threatening setback.

Orton made the clarification on Instagram when a fan asked him about his current condition.

In the post, Orton explained that he doesn’t keep up with gossip, but was aware of the false report made by Meltzer about his neck. The WWE Superstar advised fans that any report on his status that does not come from WWE.com shouldn't be taken seriously.

Orton also seems to be making great progress with his recovery and could be returning to action soon. Though there were no specifics, the important thing is that Orton is only kept back by the original shoulder ailment, not a neck injury.

That should be welcome news for the WWE, an organization that has been looking at stars who can step up in lieu of the many injured talents. But the more important question right now is over when Orton will be cleared to return to action.

The latest casualty in a growing list of injured wrestlers was Cena, who is beset by a similar shoulder injury. Surgery was successful for the "Cenation" leader and he is now on the road to recovery per WWE.com.
