Dallas Cowboys Rumors: DeMarco Murray Return To Texas More Likely Than Johnny Manziel [VIDEO]

Johnny Manziel has been in the news for his bad behavior this week, which included allegedly donning a blonde wig and mustache while partying in Las Vegas to disguise his identity. There has even been some chatter that Manziel is acting out as a way to force himself to Dallas.

But there’s another malcontent who is much more likely to return to Texas – Eagles running back DeMarco Murray. His departure to Philadelphia felt wrong from the outset. The Cowboys’ offensive line propelled him to be the NFL’s leading rusher in 2014, after years of battling minor injuries, while the Eagles had just traded an expensive back in LeSean McCoy. Murray struggled out of the gate, and his issues persisted all year, culminating with him turning on Chip Kelly. Now it seems Murray was instrumental in getting Kelly fired, according to reports.

Murray has also reportedly been poorly received in the Eagles’ locker room, and when news of his meeting with Lurie to undermine Kelly broke, it soured his relationship with teammates even further.

"Murray has not made a ton of friends in the Eagles' locker room, this rubs some people the wrong way, especially this week. So it's worth considering what role he will have going forward,” Rappoport reported in mid-December. Now Kelly is gone, and whomever comes in to coach the team will likely want to remove players that Kelly brought in so the team can move on with a clean slate.

Dallas Media Gives Blessing For Cowboys To Pursue Manziel

A return to Dallas makes perfect sense, since their only productive rusher in 2015 was Darren McFadden, who made it through 16 games as the result of a minor miracle. McFadden and Murray would make a strong tandem behind the Dallas O-line, and give the team the strong running game it rode to the playoffs just last year.

That is much more feasible than bringing in a high-profile, high-risk player in Manziel to back up Tony Romo, especially with Manziel’s considerable alcohol-related baggage.
