Manny Pacquiao’s final opponent for his alleged retirement fight on Apr. 9 will be Timothy Bradley Jr. but it seems it may not be his swan song after all.

It seems that Pacquiao is still holding out hope that Floyd Mayweather Jr. will come out of retirement and agree to a rematch, a reason why he and promoter Bob Arum agreed not to market his Apr. 9 fight as his last as reported through by the LA Times.

Though that plan doesn’t come as a surprise, it may not sit well with his countrymen. Pacquiao has already been hit by his poor attendance in congress and in the event he wins a senate seat, his presence will be more than needed.

His raw retirement plans may not affect his political ambitions though but he may find himself in a lot of heat once sessions start and he is not around.

With regard to Mayweather, there is no indication that he has any plans of coming out of retirement soon, though a tempting performance by Pacquiao over Bradley could bait him out of his hiatus.

A simple win will not be enough to convince Mayweather out of retirement. The eight-time division champion will have to come up with an explicit showing that will convince the undefeated American boxer to come out and break the 49-0 record that sees him currently tied with boxing great Rocky Marciano.

Pacquiao explains through Philboxing.com why he wants another shot at the flamboyant one.

"The reason is simple, I want to end my 21-year boxing career with a big bang so to speak," he said.

In the event that Mayweather comes out of retirement, he will surely look for the one that racks in the profit. While there are many good fighters out there, one advantage that Pacquiao holds is that he is the only one that can satisfy that requirement.

Though their last fight may have disappointed, a Mayweather vs. Pacquiao II will sell, though the numbers may not be as astronomical as the first one.
