Trevone Boykin didn't just knock out a bicycle patrol officer on Thursday, he also knocked out his prospects of playing in the NFL in the process.

The TCU QB was formally charged with assaulting a public servant, a third-degree felony, per ESPN. He was released from custody late Thursday night after a $5,000 bond was posted. Needless to say, he won't be under center when the Horned Frogs meet Oregon on Saturday in the Alamo Bowl.

Remember When Everyone -- Including Coaches -- Loved Trevone Boykin?

"Trevone Boykin and [junior wide receiver] Preston Miller have been suspended for Saturday's game due to a violation of team rules," head coach Gary Patterson said. "We are disappointed in their actions and apologize to the TCU Horned Frogs Nation, Valero Alamo Bowl and city of San Antonio."

Boykin was poised to improve his draft stock in 2015. NFL.com even ranked him as the No. 2 player in college football to watch.

But questions still remained about his ability to play on Sundays.

"There are a lot of doubts about how Boykin translates to the next level but he's a dynamic force in college football," NFL analyst Daniel Jeremiah said.

His colleague Gil Brandt added: "Very talented player as runner and passer. Had 41 total touchdowns in 2014 [33 passing and eight rushing]. Is he tall enough to be an NFL quarterback?"

Now the questions will turn to: "Is he disciplined enough to be an NFL QB?"

He proved otherwise Thursday night. Already a borderline draft pick, Boykins can look forward to camp invitations instead of draft day success.
