The Eagles didn’t even wait until the season ended to fire Chip Kelly, who has led the team to a disappointing 6-9 season in his first year of having full control of the team’s personnel.
Kelly made a series of questionable moves in the offseason, which included letting WR Jeremy Maclin and guard Evan Mathis leave in free agency, trading RB LeSean McCoy and QB Nick Foles, trading for QB Sam Bradford, and signing RB DeMarco Murray to a big contract. Not a single one of those moves panned out, with Murray’s signing turning out to be particularly disastrous. Kelly was also maligned for how he got along with players, the nail in the coffin being reports that LT Jason Peters pulled himself from a game – essentially quitting on the team and the season – on Saturday vs. the Redskins.
Jason Peters & DeMarco Murray Are The Reason Chip Kelly Got Fired
Kelly’s name will now be linked to a number of college coaching positions. Kelly made his name in the college game, routinely leading the Oregon Ducks to a 46-7 record in four seasons, multiple No. 1 rankings, and a 2-2 record in bowl games. But an NFL job makes more sense for Kelly’s career, and it’s also what he wants.
Kelly said few times he really wants to remain in the NFL

And why not? 2015 was not a good year for Kelly, but as a coach he still has a nice resume. Kelly led the Eagles to back-to-back 10-win seasons, and a playoff berth in 2013. He did all that with Michael Vick, Nick Foles and Mark Sanchez as his quarterback, hardly a trio full of future Hall of Famers.
LeSean McCoy Lying About His Feelings About Chip Kelly
The obvious landing spot for Kelly is in Tennessee with the Titans, where he would be able to reunite with Marcus Mariota, his college quarterback. Aside from a brief period with Vick, Kelly never had the mobile quarterback that really allows his uptempo offense to reach its full potential. The Titans position offers personnel better suited to Kelly, plus a more low-pressure situation.
Kelly will probably have to give up personnel control if he wants to remain a pro coach, but that won’t be an issue according to Fox Sports’ Jay Glazer.
In my convo w Chip he said next stop he just wants to coach & insists he does NOT want to be the personnel guy too. This is significant

Chip Kelly showed he isn’t cut from the general manager cloth this year, but there’s plenty of evidence that he’s a quality coach. He has little to prove at the college level, and he’s earned at least one more NFL chance. The Titans are the perfect match.
