Jason Day isn't the bravest man in the world, but he's certainly the smartest.

The reigning PGA Championship winner is still being ostracized for not protecting his wife -- Ellie Harvey -- in the Cavaliers' 104-100 victory over the Thunder on Thursday. A determined LeBron James barreled into the crowd, forcing Harvey to be stretchered off the floor and hospitalized.

Happy Gilmore' Swing Still Plagues The PGA

A sign that chivalry is dead, ESPN's Mike Golic decided to fire the first silo.

"Jason, what did you do? How are you not protecting [Ellie]," Golic said on Friday, per ESPN. "You know your wife is there, you know LeBron is coming and you can figure it out -- what's going to happen.

"Make an effort to protect your wife. I'm going to tell you right now, when she see's the footage of that, she's going to ask the same thing."

Tiger Woods Can Still Beat Jack Nicklaus' Record

Except she shouldn't, not when her husband is 32nd on the PGA Tour's all-time money list with just over $27 million.

Only one person in that marriage is an asset worth protecting and it's not Harvey.

While most men live their lives following the old adage of "happy wife, happy life," Day was instinctively smart enough to see the bigger picture. A happy life is one that sees you at No. 2 in the Official World Golf Ranking, not one where you tumble due to injury.

Just ask Tiger Woods.

At 28, Day is just now entering the prime of his career. His wife should be willing and ready to jump in front of a few more basketball players to ensure it's a prolonged prime.
