The obvious face of the WWE right now is John Cena, though his absence has created an opening for an interim star.

And as everyone knows, that person is Roman Reigns, who officially became WWE champion at WWE Raw earlier this week after a hellacious WWE TLC pay-per-view.

Possible Replacements For The Rock At 'WrestleMania'

While it all seemed like a prepared scenario, the WWE was able to get the WWE Universe back up the Big Dog and now his era has begun. But all that could change once John Cena returns in 2016, as mentioned via Bleacher Report.

The 38-year-old WWE star is still the obvious face of the WWE, and we are not only talking about merchandise sales. He has stuck around despite the familiar chorus of boos. Unlike Reigns however, Cena has mastered the art of playing and appeasing the fans using an impromptu approach.

The WWE Should Make Paige's Christmas Wish Come True

So once he returns, it could be to further catapult Reigns into the WWE ranks, which could be his crowning glory. But the thing is, how will it happen and when?

It could happen at Royal Rumble or even Wrestlemania 32. But the former seems to be more logical since Cena could be used to give the Undertaker a proper send-off at the WWE extravaganza.

The two could face each other though it remains questionable who will play face and who will play heel. More to that, will the WWE title change hands?

A Cena vs. Reigns tiff at Wrestlemania 32 could be grand had it not for a more important match with the Taker. In that case, Reigns may eventually face Triple H as his next opponent in what was originally supposed to be Seth Rollins.

If not Triple H, a rematch with Brock Lesnar could work as well. This time, there will be no cash-ins and it could ultimately see who between the two is tougher and worthy to wear the WWE title.
