Right now, most folks are savoring the Holiday season, meaning almost everyone is in vacation-mode.

With only a week before Christmas and about two weeks before 2015 ends, no one seems to be in the mood to work emphatically. Canelo Alvarez and company included.

The WBC relaxed its original stance, which called for Alvarez to decide or vacate the WBC middleweight title 15 days after his win over Miguel Cotto.

There have been many changes from there. That included allowing both Alvarez and Gennady Golovkin to face an optional bout before eventually colliding. But it seems from there, it will be Alvarez's choice.

Apparently there is no problem Golovkin's end, as he is eager to face Alvarez. The real holdup now is Alvarez, who has been battling for that 155-pound catchweight clause, which the WBC and Triple G are unlikely to give in to.

The issue may crop up again sometime in May after Alvarez’s plan fight for Cinco De Mayo. So the real question now is who Alvarez (and Golovkin) will be facing next.

Golovkin has plans to return by March or April, something that was meant more to keep himself in shape, as Boxing News 24 reported. For his part, Alvarez plans to get back in the ring by May 7.

So with the months of their return set, the more pressing question right now is who do they fight? Will it be a familiar name in the ranks or someone fairly close to an exhibition of sorts just to stay in shape?

Alvarez and company will discuss the matter after the Holidays, though expect the Mexican to make up a list of possible next opponents.

“No names have been mentioned. Maybe the winner of (Clottey vs. Rosado) is discussed, but it’s by no means an eliminator or anything. Joshua was a potential opponent in the past and a win on Saturday could put him back on Canelo’s radar. Gabriel Rosado, he’s always a win away from being back in a big fight. There are a lot of options, Saturday’s winner being one of many,” said Golden Boy VP Eric Gomez via boxingscene.com.
