The White Sox, Reds and Dodgers swung a three-team trade Wednesday with a ton of moving parts. Here is who got who.

White Sox Get: IF Todd Frazier

Reds Get: IF Jose Peraza, OF Scott Schebler, IF/OF Brandon Dixon

Dodgers Get: SP Frankie Montas, IF Michah Johnson, OF Trayce Thompson

It’s a lot to digest. The big name here is obviously Frazier, who belted 35 home runs in 2015 and slashed .255/.309/.498 for Cincinnati. The sneaky big news, however, is the Dodgers landing the 22-year-old Montas.

Dodgers Offseason Leaves Them Third-Best In NL West

Los Angeles’ roster is an odd mix of veterans past their prime, mixed with prospects who may be too green. They also lost Zack Greinke, who was a strong contender for the 2015 NL Cy Young award, while the Giants added Jeff Samardzija and Johnny Cueto, and the Diamondbacks signed Greinke. There is growing suspicion that this deal was not intended to expedite a youth movement, but rather to increase their pool of prospects to trade to the Marlins.

Miami is rumored to be shopping ace right-hander Jose Fernandez for the right price, which is exorbitant for a 24-year-old ace with a career 2.40 ERA. By adding Montas, Los Angeles added to one of baseball’s deepest farm systems, and acquired a hell of a sweetener. Any package for Fernandez will start with one of the following: OF Joc Pederson, SS Cory Seager, SP Julio Urias. They can also dangle 25-year-old outfielder Yasiel Puig, who has already made an All-Star team.

Two of those players is potentially not enough to satisfy the Marlins, but throwing in Montas could push it over the top. Every one of those players is either MLB-ready, or already has big league experience. Even Montas has 15 innings at the MLB level; he’s 0-2 with 4.80 ERA, but did strike out 12 batters per nine innings.
