Don’t expect to see Gilbert Arenas courtside at a Washington Mystics game -- not after his latest post on Instagram.

The former NBA player -- never short on controversy -- unleashed his opinions on the WNBA on Tuesday. It’s even more sexist than you possibly could’ve ever imagined.

While it would be easy to take the moralistic approach and eviscerate Arenas’ view of the league, there is some truth behind the sexism.

The WNBA averaged 7,318 fans per game during the 2015 regular season, the lowest average attendance in league history according to SportsBusiness Daily, per Review Journal. It was a three-percent drop from last season. The previous low was 7,457 in 2012.

The San Antonio Stars themselves saw a 37-percent decline (4,831).

Not to say that scantily-clad players in lingerie is best way to help mitigate low attendance, but there is an image problem with the WNBA.

No one is coming to see it.

Arenas just took the most innapropriate route imaginable to highlight that.
