The WWE has tried its best to force the Roman Empire on the WWE Universe. The WWE has, for the most part, failed.

But there's hope.

Predicting The Card For Royal Rumble 2016

The WWE offered a glimmer of light Sunday night in this otherwise barren wasteland of a product where talent is scarce and the creative direction has led to a ratings nosedive. At the end of TLC: Tables, Ladders & Chairs, it seemed as though there was actually a positive direction for Roman Reigns.

The former Shield member can't get it done on the microphone and the WWE may finally be realizing it. Never were his lack of mic skills more evident than when he cut the infamous "tater tots" promo on Sheamus last week on RAW.

Reigns, however, has improved vastly in the ring and will only continue to grow into the next possible future Superstar as time goes on. The WWE (ahem, Vince McMahon) just needs to stop forcing the issue, and it seems it realized that Reigns is best when he isn't talking, but rather kicking ass and taking names.

Reigns beat the snot out of the COO, Triple H, to close out TLC on Sunday, which was hopefully a sign that the writers have finally found his strong suit: brawling.

When he was with The Shield, Reigns impressed many members of the WWE Universe because he didn't say much and let his actions in the ring do the talking. Though his move set was limited, he was able to tag in and tag out with Dean Ambrose and Seth Rollins on the apron.

When the safety net of the Hounds of Justice trio was broken up, Reigns was exposed.

Yes, his mic skills are terrible (acting classes be damned) and his in-ring work could still use some improvement, but when he's booked to just get into a straight up fight, Reigns shines. And that's what was so exciting about him taking out "The Game" on Sunday. Reigns is at his best when he's just laying down a beating.

And so the rumors continue to grow that Reigns and Triple H will face each other at WrestleMania 32 in April, which would be a great thing for the WWE. Instead of once again forcing Reigns into the main event at WrestleMania, if this huge match occurs, someone else will get a shot to shine.

Furthermore, it will still give Reigns a high-profile platform to show what he can do under the bright lights at AT&T Stadium in Texas. Going up against a veteran like Triple H will only help enhance Reigns as a talent and going over him in the ring will increase the believability of his eventual mega push.

It's possible the WWE pushes a Reigns-Triple H encounter up to the Royal Rumble, but a feud of this magnitude deserves a slow burn, climaxing at the biggest show of the year.

If Reigns gets a win over Triple H, continues to improve and the WWE slowly builds him up to superstardom, maybe then the WWE Universe can get behind and embrace the Roman Empire.
