The fantasy football playoffs are underway, meaning the competition for free agents is more intense, but the pool of owners trying to add players is shallower. Even during the playoffs waiver wire additions can make or break a title run.

Cowboys Better Off With Tim Tebow Over Matt Cassel

Quarterbacks

Ryan Fitzpatrick, Jets (46% Owned): He’s still owned in fewer than half the existing fantasy leagues (on Yahoo) so he is back atop the list. He’s thrown for two or more touchdown passes in each of the last three weeks, and he’s registered 10 multi-touchdown games in 13 starts. He has also put up 20 or more rushing yards in four of his last five games. If you just lost Andy Dalton, you still trot Matt Ryan out there, or you’re worried that Cam Newton or Tom Brady will be handled with caution, Fitz is your man.

A.J. McCarron, Bengals (1% Owned): Adding McCarron is more for Dalton owners who are in love with Cincinnati’s defense. McCarron is not someone you’ll want to play in Week 16 if you make it that far, but this week vs. San Francisco is tasty, especially with how well A.J. Green has been playing. McCarron’s 280-yard, two-touchdown performance vs. the Steelers is encouraging that he can get the job done.

Russell Wilson & Ciara Will Be Engaged Sooner Than You Think

Running Backs

Tim Hightower, Saints (41% Owned): The fact that the Saints spent actual money on C.J. Spiller is perplexing, because he was barely used even though Mark Ingram and Khiry Robinson are both out for the season. Tim Hightower is somehow still relevant in the NFL, and even though he’s not a great running back, the workload he will see moving forward makes him a must-start unless your team is very stacked.

DuJuan Harris, Seahawks (4% Owned): Harris is the man in the Seattle backfield with Thomas Rawls’ season done thanks to a broken ankle. Harris, like Hightower, is nothing special. But the Seahawks running game has been on fire the last few weeks, and they have two cake matchups in Weeks 15 and 16 (Browns, Rams).

Bilal Powell, Jets (14% Owned): This is a big surprise. Powell has been the Jets best running back the last few weeks, and his main value has been as a receiver. Powell caught all five of his targets for 51 yards and a touchdown, and he’s become one of Fitzpatrick’s more reliable third down options. Chris Ivory still gets the bulk of the work, but Powell has just as much a chance to score these days.

Robert Turbin, Cowboys (5% Owned): Turbin is getting some run in the Dallas backfield as Darren McFadden’s backup, and the way Matt Cassel is throwing the ball, the Cowboys will be running the ball heavily for the rest of this lost season. Turbin rushed seven times for 51 yards and a score last week. The scores will be unpredictable, but expect 7-12 carries a week for Turbin with much bigger upside thanks to McFadden’s injury history.

Wide Receivers

Tyler Lockett, Seahawks (37% Owned): Russell Wilson is playing the best football of his career, so while Doug Baldwin is clearly the No. 1 option in Seattle’s passing game, it’s smart to get any piece of this offense possible.

Ted Ginn, Panthers (40% Owned): It looks like Ginn is back to mattering. He’s as frustrating as they come because of his horrific drops, but Carolina’s receiving corps is such that he’s probably their best bet. Know that Ginn could score zero points in any game, but he can also win a week because of how open he’s able to get.

Markus Wheaton, Steelers (29% Owned): Wheaton saw seven targets this week and piled up a respectable 65 yards. This week the Steelers have the Broncos on the slate, so Wheaton will see extra looks with Denver’s top DBs blanketing Antonio Brown and Martavis Bryant.

Tight Ends

Zach Miller, Bears (19% Owned): Miller is entrenched as their No. 1 tight end with Martellus Bennett on injured reserve, and Miller has produced when he is targeted with high volume. Players worried about Tyler Eifert’s status should go for Miller.
