There will be a lot of people paying close watch to the much awaited UFC 194 main event showdown between Jose Aldo and Conor McGregor, which promises to be an action-packed and drama-filled fight that should have taken place back in July.

Whatever happens, a rematch is already in the air though it would all depend on how the fight goes. If it promises to be a humdinger, expect the two to meet again.

In the event that the match turns out to be a sleeper, there is already one guy waiting in the wings for a shot at the UFC featherweight title -- Frankie Edgar.

Edgar has found himself in the mix after knocking out Chad Mendes at TUF 22 at The Chelsea at The Cosmopolitan in Las Vegas on Friday.

A brutal left kick did Mendes in and now Edgar is being primed for a possible match with the winner of the Aldo vs. McGregor match. Should Edgar get the call, it will give him another chance to vie for the title. He had previously fought Aldo at UFC 156 in 2013, but fell short, losing via unanimous decision to the Brazilian.

Edgar has since rebounded from that loss, stringing up five straight wins, which could be enough to move him up the ranks for another title shot as mentioned on MMA Junkie.

That could be possible but seeing how things work in the UFC, Edgar is prepared for anything from here on.

"No matter what happens, I'm going to be knocking on that door and they're going to answer and they're going to see me,” says Edgar via Fox Sports.
