Tiger Woods tends to be all business on the golf course, so at the President's Cup when his girlfriend Lindsey Vonn snuck a baby squirrel onto his back it was a sight to behold.

The tiny creature, dubbed Sammy the Squirrel, became something of a good luck charm for the United States team. Assistant captain Davis Love III brought good fortune upon the team whenever he held the squirrel, so for most of the day he was hanging on to Sammy.

At one point during the day Vonn, an Olympic skier, got mischievous and played a prank on the world's best golfer, slipping him onto an unsuspecting Tiger as he sat in a cart. Tiger looked annoyed at first, brushing him off, but couldn't help but smile when he saw Sammy.

Sammy was rescued by Love on the second hole, when he spotted him and picked him up out of fear he'd be run over. "Lindsey (Vonn) loves him," Love said. He also explained the choice of Sammy; "we didn't know if it was a boy or a girl."

The International team now trails the United States by a single point, but the results became secondary to utter cuteness. "Freddie (Couples) wanted me to bring him to the press center but Sammy has already gotten enough press today," Love said.

While Sammy helped the United States jump out to a lead, the Internationals rallied late. "What we showed today was plenty of heart," Adam Scott said. "We can make that up with the first match tomorrow."

Woods is partnering with Matt Kuchar, and after one day the pair looks formidable. "We both have the low stroke averages in this tournament's history," Woods said. "Put us together and we feel very comfortable how to play this golf course."
