CM Punk is a long shot to ever return to the WWE, but Vince McMahon needs to figure out a way to get him back into the fold.

"The Best in the World" stormed out on the WWE in January 2014 despite still being under contract, and he has never looked back. Punk has gone as far as to say he'll "never ever" return to the company, while McMahon said last year that he hoped someday the two sides could work something out to have a working relationship again.

Dana White Doesn't Appear Confident In CM Punk's MMA Career

Punk signed on with the UFC late last year after his WWE pact finally ended, and he has been training out of Roufusport in Milwaukee for his first fight in the Octagon. The debut has been pushed back quite a few times, most recently due to the former WWE Champion sustaining a shoulder injury while training.

The wrestler-turned-ultimate fighter is looking to make his debut in early 2016, but some fans are still pining for a return to the squared circle, which judging by Punk's latest tweet, wouldn't happen for all of the money in the world:

Daniel Bryan's Career In Limbo; Here Are His Greatest Moments

Punk is under contract with UFC, so even if he wanted to, he wouldn't be able to jump ship until it expires. Should that day actually come, McMahon needs to do everything in his power to bring him back.

Even if it takes more than backing a dump truck of money at Punk's door, the WWE should do it. Whether it takes a public apology for how they treated him in the past or luring him in with a main event push and the WrestleMania main event position he always coveted, but never received, the WWE needs to get him back.

Bringing Punk back won't save the company completely, but it would be a step in the right direction. The RAW ratings are steadily declining, the WWE's bench is very thin and the Roman Reigns-Sheamus feud at the top of the card isn't working out.

With Randy Orton and Seth Rollins out for a very long time, John Cena, The Undertaker and Brock Lesnar on hiatus and the news that Daniel Bryan could be preparing to call it a career, the WWE has a dearth of talent. It remains to be seen how Punk's first fight in the UFC will go, if it ever does happen, but at age 37 how many real battles can he withstand?

It's time for the WWE to get over the past and help the present product get back on its feet again.
