Los Angeles Lakers Rumors: Scott Disick's House May Be A Key To Russell Westbrook's Free Agency [VIDEO]

Russell Westbrook may be ready to run his own team, a la James Harden with the Rockets. Westbrook just bought a posh new home in Los Angeles, where the Lakers just happen to be starving for a new superstar with Kobe Bryant retiring at the end of this season.

The home Westbrook just bought cost 4.65 million, and was sold by Scott Disick, the father of Kourtney Kardashian’s children. Westbrook’s new pad is 4,000 square feet, and has five bedrooms, and six bathrooms, according to TMZ. But before anyone jumps to ironclad conclusions, they should know that Westbrook is a Los Angeles native and went to college at UCLA. This could very well have nothing to do with the Lakers.

Russell Westbrook Won't Be The Reason Kevin Durant Leaves OKC

Then again, they’ll have an awful lot of cap space in the summer of 2017, when Westbrook will be a free agent. His current Thunder teammate Kevin Durant may also be a free agent in 2017. Durant’s contract is up this year, but with the NBA’s salary cap set to skyrocket, he may decide on a lucrative one-year contract and then cash in for a long-term deal in 2017 when he has a better sense of what Westbrook wants to do.

The Lakers won’t be the best spot for Westbrook in terms of surrounding talent. He’d be leaving the side of one of the best players in the world, and joining a roster that is currently banking on unproven players like D’Angelo Russell and Julius Randle. In that situation, however, Westbrook could take up Bryant’s mantle as the NBA’s resident chucker. He currently leads the Thunder in shot attempts (19.2), despite Durant having four scoring titles on his resume.

Durant Proves Again He's Too Sensitive For Big Media Markets

Westbrook did lead the NBA in scoring last year with Durant mostly out of the lineup with foot injuries, and leaving the Thunder proved to be a boost to Harden’s Q rating.
