I'm the head coach of the Philadelphia Eagles," said Chip Kelly Thursday. With that ode to the obvious Kelly sought to put an end to all the rumors about being interested in the USC head coaching job.

Days after USC firing embattled coach Lane Kiffin, Kelly's name has surfaced in the discussion of who might next be entrusted with manning the storied USC program.

His 1-3 NFL start aside, Kelly let it be known he's in for the long haul as it relates to getting Michael Vick and company back on track.

"I'm very, very excited to be here," he told Philly.com "I'm not entertaining anything like that. I'm here."

Since leaving Oregon, Kelly has been slapped with an 18-month show cause penalty by the NCAA for various infractions incurred while Kelly was still their coach. The penalty means that the other infractions assessed to Oregon would follow to another school unless they could convince the NCAA why they should not apply.

Kelly spent four seasons at Oregon, going 46-7 and leading the team to three Pac-12 Conference titles and four straight BCS game appearances.

Meanwhile, USC also just finished serving probation including the loss of several scholarships for infractions committed while current Seattle Seahawks coach Pete Carroll was at the helm.
