Every once in a while, NBA owners should listen to the advice from their passionate fans.

This was not one of those times.

Steph Curry Says He's Better Than LeBron, Wants To Be Regarded As Better Than Jordan

Warriors fans were outraged when Golden State traded rising star Monta Ellis in 2012 but kept an injured 23-year-old by the name of Stephen Curry, Complex.com reported.

The website posted angry tweets from fans when the Ellis trade went down, the Warriors sending him, Kwame Brown and Ekpe Upoh to the Bucks for Andrew Bogut and Stephen Jackson.

Warriors Interim Coach Luke Walton Might Be Exactly What Lakers Need

Why didn't the Warriors listen?

Bleacher Report went so far as to list possible trade offers Golden State would have been wise to consider for Curry before the 2012-13 season.

The five possibilities were:

  • To the Timberwolves for Ricky Rubio.
  • To the Hawks (along with Andris Biedrins) for Josh Smith.
  • To the Bulls (along with David Lee and Harrison Barnes) for Derrick Rose.
  • To the Cavaliers for Kyrie Irving.
  • And to the then-Charlotte Bobcats for a first-round pick "Because Curry's likely to end up in Charlotte either way."

Ellis has had a solid NBA career. He is averaging 19.1 points per game with 4.8 assists and 3.5 rebounds in 11 seasons. He averaged 19.2 points per game in his one full year with Milwaukee in 2012-13, then averaged 19.0 and 18.9 his next two years with the Mavericks. Ellis is now with the Pacers, averaging 11.6 points though 20 games.

Not quite Curry-esque.

But can you imagine the turnover in the Warriors front office had they actually listened to the "noise" about Curry and traded him?
