Floyd Mayweather Jr., the retired pound-for-pound king of boxing, has followed in Mike Tyson’s footsteps and welcomed a tiger into his life. Mayweather, already unpopular in many circles, did himself no favors with animal rights activists by taking in this big cat.

One celebrity in particular, Chrissy Teigen, was especially outspoken with her feelings about Mayweather owning a tiger.

Teigen is definitely not alone in wanting Mayweather to get eaten by a tiger, and many of those people who would wish that felt this way before he ever had one. Mayweather didn’t go out and buy the tiger though. It was given to him as a gift from his friends in Moscow, and Mayweather says he is actually attempting to breed tigers to keep them from extinction.

“Yes, they gave me a tiger, but I'm not getting a tiger to let my tiger run around the city and bite people,” Mayweather told Fight Hype.

“Everyone says, ‘Let the tiger run in the wild.’ Well you know what? That's what we're doing. I joined a team in Moscow, Russia, and we're saving tigers. We're breeding tigers because there's a shortage of tigers in this world. The tigers that are out in the wild are being shot and killed. Human beings are killing tigers for no reason. Before you know it, there won't be anymore tigers in the world. We don't want that to happen.”

After that, Mayweather gave Teigen the Ronda Rousey treatment, where he claims he doesn’t know who they are.

“I really don't even know what his wife does, whoever she may be. I've never seen John Legend's wife in my life. If I did, I probably just don't remember it,” Mayweather said, before insinuating she is trying to stir up publicity by using his name. “You see, when she spoke on me, she got her name in the public eye, so that's kind of cool for her.”

Mayweather has been very mellow since his retirement, likely because he was the world’s richest athlete again in 2015, and has the kind of money to live like this even though he’s not fighting anymore.
