Donald Trump refuses to go away and we have Tom Brady to blame for that.

The controversial, pompous and head-scratching presidential candidate nearly doubled his lead in New Hampshire. Overall, 32 percent say they support Trump, with Marco Rubio a distant second at 14 percent, per CNN.

In Massachusetts, Trump's support is a baffling 48 percent simply because Brady can’t keep his mouth shut.

“In Massachusetts, I’m at 48 percent. You know why? Tom Brady said Trump’s the greatest,” Trump said in an interview with The Washington Post. “He says it to anyone who asks him. You know, it’s hard for a guy like him to say that. When you’re a football player, you don’t want to be taking sides in campaigns and having the Hillary [Clinton] people now say you’re not as good as Bart Starr.

“You understand. So, Tom Brady is great.”

As if you didn’t have reason enough to root against Brady and the Patriots.

Admittedly, Brady previously tried to distance himself from Trump in an interview with WEEI-FM radio.

"I don't even know what the issues are. I haven't paid attention to politics in a long time," Brady said. "It's actually not something that I really even enjoy. It's way off my radar."

Not quite the ringing endorsement Trump claims to have, and yet, the polls remain overwhelming in his favor.

Guess there’s only one way to resolve this.
