Kobe Bryant is winding down his career and most of the cities where he will be playing are bound to hold some sort of ceremony or even hand out some kind of citation to honor him for his years of play in the NBA. The "Black Mamba" wants no part of that.
Now, that is a tradition that is normally followed religiously for iconic players when their careers end. But in the case of Bryant, he wants to do something different than usual.

Instead of special ceremonies, the five-time NBA champion wants to keep things as simple as possible. Better yet, he hopes to do away with the special ceremonies and gifts so as not to detract the games as mentioned via the Bleacher Report.
Kobe has requested not to have any on-court ceremonies or gift presentations from opposing NBA teams. He does not want to detract from game.

Bryant has had his large chunk of attention throughout his career, but this time, he prefers to avoid the spotlight. The Wizards feted Bryant recently, with the retiring Lakers star appreciative of the recognition.

Seeing, however, that the season is still a long way from being over, Bryant seems to be bent on simply finishing the campaign (sans the injuries) rather than being recognized for his contributions and moments, which are aplenty.
Of course, that is something that the Black Mamba has no power over and it may ultimately fall on the opposing teams’ management on whether they should pay tribute to the 37-year-old star who has time and time again broken the backs (and hearts) of opposing teams with his torrid shooting and miraculous plays.
