The Bulls could use another tested shooter in their lineup but it looks like they will have to make do with what they have right now.

This comes after reports that hotshot Mike Dunleavy will need more time to rehab his back before he can start taking part in basketball-related activities.

Stephen Curry Has Become The NBA's Most Frustrating Opponent

Dunleavy underwent lower back microdiscectomy surgery in the offseason and his absence has been a big blow to first year head coach Fred Hoiberg and company.

Dunleavy has proven to be a reliable perimeter threat that would have spread the floor better. Doug McDermott and Nikola Mirotic have been filling in but not as effective as the 35-year-old Dunleavy who is proven and is of course an NBA veteran who has been around.

With Less Pressure, Kobe Bryant Suddenly Recalls Form

The extra time off could be a result of Dunleavy trying to fast-forward his recovery process and now he finds himself back to square one as reported via Yahoo Sports.

With Dunleavy out, the Bulls are missing his good outside sniping. Last season, Dunleavy was 39.6% on catch-and-shoots and 46.9% on pull-up triples as detailed by the Bleacher Report via NBA.com stats.

So with that setback, coach Hoiberg will need to remedy the situation and look at others to take the outside shots. Bear in mind that the 4 to 6 week waiting time is for Dunleavy to return to basketball-related activities meaning that doesn’t include when he can actually suit up and play ball.

And even if he does, it may be a long process since Dunleavy will expectedly be out of shape in the first couple of game he could be fielded in.
