Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo are up for the FIFA Ballon d'Or for the umpteenth time. If Julia Roberts had a vote, it'd belong to the Barcelona icon.
Speaking with Argentine outlet TN to promote her new film "Secret in Their Eyes" -- a remake of the 2009 Argentinian film -- Roberts revealed that her kids are in enamored with a certain four-time Ballon d'Or winner.
Messi's Debut The Worst Day Of Cristiano's Life
"I have two sons and a daughter, and they're all huge football fans, and they play," she said. "There's a lot of talk of Messi in our house."
Just no talk of Ronaldo. And for good reason, too.
Messi Fans Still Can't Pay Cristiano Proper Respect
For all Ronaldo's greatness, there hasn't been much to talk about under newly appointed manager Rafa Benitez.
Admittedly, 16 goals in domestic and European competition is nothing to dismiss, but eight alone came in a three day span from Sept. 12-15 against Espanyol and Shakhtar Donetsk. In 10 of his 18 appearances, he finished scoreless.
Hardly the goalscoring record you'd expect from a finalist for Player of the Year.
Not that Messi has an impeccable goalscoring record of his own -- boasting just six goals and three assists due to a knee injury -- but his treble remains fresh on the minds of football fans. Especially those in the Roberts household.
With a fifth golden ball imminent, who can blame them?
