Tim Tebow doesn't even play in the NFL anymore, yet he's one of the most popular athletes.

It likely has nothing to do with his actually athletic ability, but rather the way he carries himself even now that he's off the gridiron. The former Heisman Trophy winner works with various Christian organizations and though he's popular and well-known, he also remains humbled.

Tim Tebow, Olivia Culpo Never Dated

Despite being cut from the Eagles, his fourth NFL team, in September, Tebow remains in the spotlight without necessarily asking for it. And when the lights burn bright on the former signal caller, he handles it with aplomb without going over the top.

Tebow understands he has his legions of fans, likely due to the way he handles himself, but he also knows that there are many critics out there who don't want to see him suit up in the NFL ever again.

Falcons, Rams Need Tebow Time

"I don't mind," Tebow said about the questions facing his future, according to Esquire, "because people are intrigued. I also think that can be a really good thing. When you try to be a role model, not everybody can relate to some of your highs-awards, championships. But everybody can relate to the lows. Everybody's gotten fired from a job or gotten cut. People learn more about you in those lows than they do in the highs."

It's that exact attitude that has made Tebow remain as one of the most popular unemployed athletes in the world. The NFL journeyman was recently romantically linked to former Miss Universe Olivia Culpo, and despite his personal life being aired out on various media platforms, he never wavered or made a public stink about it.

Even when the two reportedly split up and rumors surfaced that they never really dated, Tebow kept to himself without causing an uproar over people commenting on his personal life. Even his own Instagram page is riddled with pictures of the quarterback enjoying family time, which is better than what most athletes' social media accounts are littered with.

Tebow is a very polarizing figure, but it's his different nature from most athletes that makes him so unique. Tebow's vow of celibacy -- which led to rumors of problems with Culpo -- is also a breath of fresh air compared to how many athletes flaunt their sexual conquests.

Tebow isn't in the NFL anymore, yet he still generates a lot of buzz. His time may come again, but even if it doesn't, his "outcast" personality will keep him popular.
