Four days ahead of a pivotal battle for New York, Brandon Marshall and Todd Bowles aren't seeing eye to eye.

Marshall -- who's on pace to have his best season since 2013 -- has no qualms with embracing the rivalry narrative in New York. For the Jets WR, more than a result is on the line at MetLife.

It's all about bragging rights.

"Because it's two teams in the same city, it's definitely a rivalry," Marshall said Tuesday on Sirius XM's Mad Dog Radio Show, per NFL.com. "We definitely want to be known as the best team in New York, and we have to go out there and fight for that this weekend."

Clearly, Todd Bowles isn't about that life.

"No, I don't think it's a rivalry because you don't play them as much," he said, per ESPN. "They're not in the same division. You only play them once every [four] years.

"The fact that we're in the same city, same stadium makes it very interesting for the fan base, but other than that, no."

A leap year-type schedule aside, the one thing lacking from a Jets-Giants rivalry is an actual rival.

Since the AFL-NFL merger was announced in 1966, the Giants have lifted the Lombardi trophy four times and twice in the last eight years. The Jets' one and only Super Bowl (1969) pre-dates Neil Armstrong's landing on the moon.

Until Gang Green rewrites that narrative, there's no sense in buying into the rivalry one.
