Jon Jones swears that he is a changed man and all that is credited to the learning experience he got from the April hit-and-run incident.

"Bones" has been known to take himself to the limit, partying and then mixing it with hard training which he admits worked for a time. However, it did come to a point where the abuse he was giving his body was taking its toll and that April incident seemed to be the wakeup call for him to change his ways.

Jones shared that the turning point of his bodily abuse came in September 2013. He was up against Alexander Gustaffson at that time and it was in the second round of the match where he noticed something different with his body.

“After round two, I was pretty gassed out," Jones told Fox Sports. "That was the first time in my whole career being tired in the second round. It just went to show that my cardio, my focus, everything, it just wasn't there."

He admits that he didn’t deserve that fight, something he won via a close five-round decision. But apparently that episode was a sign for him to start looking out for himself more seriously. Though Jones still insists that he wasn’t hooked on cocaine, he does not deny the fact that he was delved heavily into marijuana and had an alcohol problem.

But thanks to that hit-and-run incident, Jones says that he is a changed man. He says that he has stayed away from alcohol and has not smoked pot for about three to four months now.

"I'm upset about all the hours I spent being under the influence, and all the hours I spent getting under the influence," he said. "My life has changed for the better in so many different ways since this car accident. I'm grateful for it."

Jones was reinstated last Oct. 23 after the UFC looked into his plea bargaining agreement. He is expected to face-off against reigning champion Daniel Cormer sometime in 2016.

While there is no official date set yet, Jones is hinting that the match may happen in April, 2016 at UFC 183 via post he put up on his Instagram account.
