It's Les Miles' word against two anonymous sources. Or the word of two anonymous sources and LSU's sports information director.

Miles was said to have addressed the Tiger Gridiron Club on Friday, telling the assembly that he's gone after today's game against LSU, the New Orleans Times-Picayune reported.

"He didn't use those words but he made it clear that Saturday is his last game," one Gridiron club member said, according to the paper.

"He said, 'We're a second family to him and he's going to miss us, he appreciates his real friends, and then he told us good-bye,'" the source said. "It was very emotional but in control."

A second source said Miles told the group he "wouldn't be seeing them at the bowl game," he would "always be a Tiger" and "thanks for a great 11 years," the Times-Picayune added.

The embattled LSU coach denied those reports, according to ESPN.

"However, Miles, in an interview with the SEC Network, denied he made any suggestion to the Gridiron Club that Saturday would be his last game as coach of the Tigers," the site reported.

Yet, LSU's sports information director inadvertently may have backed the anonymous sources' claims.

"He was basically using it as an opportunity to thank them because he wasn't sure if he'd be in front of them again," SID Michael Bonnette said. "He by no means resigned or gave any indication of tomorrow being his last game at all."

Miles likely wouldn't voluntarily resign because that might mean a forfeiture of some $11 million remaining on his contract, the amount USA Today Sports reported was his buyout.

But the second part of Bonnette's statement makes no sense. If Miles wasn't sure whether he'd address the Gridiron Club again, isn't that a suggestion, if not an indication, that the A&M game could be his last?

It's plausible Les Miles has been told directly or through his representatives that the school intends to sever ties with him.
