After falling short of winning the WWE World Heavyweight Championship, Dean Ambrose has diverted his attention to another WWE title -- the Intercontinental Championship.

Kevin Owens is the current title-holder, but it looks like he will have to find a way to fend off the "Lunatic Fringe," who became the official No. 1 contender to the title after a Triple Threat match held at WWE SmackDown.

Ambrose battled Tyler Breeze and Dolph Ziggler for that honor and when the smoke cleared, the former Shield member stood tall and even got in a good shove to Owens for good measure.

Known to play mind games of his own, Owens just walked away from Ambrose and is likely saving his strength for another time as mentioned via Sky Sports.

Three Big Fights Boxing Fans Would Be Thankful For

The new developing feud is of course a continuation of sorts from the WWE World Heavyweight Championship tournament semifinals that saw both Ambrose and Owens square off.

Ambrose of course won that one at WWE Survivor Series on Sunday and now it looks like this feud will be the added storyline in future WWE shows.

Though it has yet to be announced, the showdown for the Intercontinental Championship will likely happen as well on WWE TLC: Tables, Ladders and Chairs set for Dec. 13.

With buddy Roman Reigns and Sheamus set to slug it out for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship, the new feud be something interesting to check out as the creative team tries to find more potential storylines for the WWE fans.

Can the "Lunatic Fringe" snag the title from under the nose of Kevin Owens?
