Randy Orton recently underwent surgery for his injured shoulder but now it looks like a second surgery is waiting in the wings.

According to the Examiner, "The Viper" will be undergoing surgery for his neck after he recovers fully from the first procedure on his shoulder.

Roman Reigns Won't Save WWE From Ratings Decline

This bit is bad news for the WWE since it would mean that Orton will likely be out for a longer period of time, more or less a year if he is lucky. And seeing that this is another neck-related injury, the WWE is unlikely to rush Orton back into action.

Daniel Bryan was hurried back after suffering from neck surgery last year and the results were not exactly favorable. "The Beard" was visibly hurting in some matches, though the real reason why he is out right now is due to a concussion debate.

Former Superstar Could Be Burning Bridge With WWE By Supporting CM Punk

Just the same, Orton is likely to have a hard time returning to the WWE ring next year if he ever does get the medical clearance. Wrestlers like Edge and Steve Austin had their share of neck injuries and as everyone knows, it eventually resulted in their retirement from competitive wrestling.

Though all that remains to be seen, doctors claim that Orton’s injury is not that serious. Bone chips will have to be cleaned out from his neck with the worst case scenario requiring Orton to undergo fusion surgery as singled out via Cageside Seats.

Orton joins other injured stars like Seth Rollins (knee) and Cesaro (shoulder), further dampening the hopes of getting some big names to help jack up the declining ratings of the WWE.
