Chicago has been on a roll this year, winning three straight games to kick off the Marc Trestman era. One marked improvement has been on Chicago's offensive line, which is opening holes for running back Matt Forte and giving Jay Cutler time to shred secondaries.
This week will be a major test, however, when they encounter the nasty defensive line of the lines, led by controversial defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh.
Chicago's defense is no joke either, having scored three defensive touchdowns already in 2013. They have also recovered six fumbles and recorded five interceptions.
"That's what we do, we take the ball away," defensive end Julius Peppers said. "We stress it in practice every day, and it carries over to the game ... we have to continue to do that on a weekly basis to continue to win, and I believe we'll be able to do that."
Slowing down the Bears is key for the Lions, so they don't bury themselves in a deep hole just a quarter of the way through the campaign.
"NFC North games mean an awful lot because No. 1, it's a chance for you to win the game, but No. 2, it's a chance to put a loss on one of your opponents without having somebody else have to help you do it," Lions head coach Jim Schwartz said. "They're certainly important. I'm not up here to tell you it's not."
