With the WWE's ratings rapidly declining, Roman Reigns isn't here to save the day.

It's been no secret that the leader of the Roman Empire is the WWE's hand-picked choice to carry the torch moving forward. Sure, they screwed him out of title reigns at WrestleMania 31 and Survivor Series, but the smart money is on Reigns winning the richest prize in the game this year at the "Show of Shows."

Former WWE Superstar Burns Bridge By Supporting CM Punk

The WWE is taking an obvious approach with Reigns. Since half of the WWE Universe boos him at every turn, the company is trying to build him up into a sympathetic figure by having him constantly come up short when it comes to winning the gold.

While the WWE creative team may believe that it's going to work, Reigns is not the answer to the company's problems. Reigns has improved in the ring, but his microphone skills still need some work. Either way, it's hard to ever see the WWE's fans getting behind him -- much like John Cena.

WWE Divas To Be Thankful For

The company could embrace the boos by turning Reigns heel, but thus far they've ignored the temptation. It's quite clear, the WWE is in a bind.

With Cena, Brock Lesnar and likely The Undertaker on hiatus and injuries to Daniel Bryan, Cesaro and Randy Orton, the company is in a rough spot. In Orton's case, he was sidelined with a shoulder injury, but now he may need fusion neck surgery, which could sideline him for 3-6 months, according to The Wrestling Observer.

The lack of depth and terrible direction with the bland Sheamus as WWE World Heavyweight Champion and Reigns as his not-yet-over chaser has led to a weekly decline in RAW ratings. Just this past Monday, the numbers dipped to 2.964 million viewers, a new non-holiday record low. The 2.16 rating was down from last week's 2.28 per Wrestlingheadlines.com.

With the ratings declining, the roster's depth dwindling and a questionable Reigns push, 2015 isn't going out with a bang for the WWE.
