Greg Hardy might just be thankful for a new set of brains this Thanksgiving. It appears the defensive end may be starting to learn how to clean up his act.
It's a shame however, the step he's taking is so minor. The Cowboys defensive star has canceled an event at a nightclub in Dallas for Thanksgiving night, according to TMZ.
Hardy's NFL Career Continues Due To 'Nameless, Faceless' Victim
Hardy was planning on hosting a holiday party, but he took himself out of it over fears that it may lead to him getting some more negative publicity. TBD nightclub is promoting a "Welcome to Dallas" Thanksgiving bash, which was set to be hosted by Hardy.
Ron King, the event's promoter, said he was given short notice as Hardy's representation revealed he wouldn't be making it on Monday, leaving three days for King to find a replacement host.
Jerry Jones' Support Of Greg Hardy Dwindling
"Greg can't do the party anymore," King told TMZ. "Greg's people said he was catching heat for having the party so he couldn't do it ... now I have to find some other big name Cowboys to sponsor it on short notice."
While it may not have been the best practice to cancel an event three days prior to it launching, at least Hardy is showing some common sense for one. Sure, it can be argued that he's only avoiding possible trouble to keep his name out of headlines instead of actively changing his ways and identifying his problems, but at least it's a start toward what could be a new outlook for him.
Hardy was arrested after he assaulted his now ex-girlfriend, Nicole Holder, and threw her onto a futon full of guns. The defensive end was found guilty and was sentence to serve 60 days in jail, but the charges were dropped when Holder stopped cooperating with police because he paid her off.
The former Pro Bowler then served a four-game suspension earlier this season before playing his first game with the Cowboys. He once again came off as a bad dude when he said he was going to come out of his suspension "guns blazing," which was just a mind-numbingly idiotic statement given the nature of why he was banned.
Now, Hardy and the Cowboys host his former team, the Carolina Panthers, who he described as "nameless, faceless opponents," in a Thanksgiving showdown at AT&T Stadium.
At least that's the only thing Hardy will be hosting during the holiday.
