The only thing worse than the quality of football in the NFL this season is the officiating. KJ Wright’s illegal batting of the ball against the Lions in Week 4 was just the tipping point.
Below are the five worst calls of the 2015 NFL season.

KJ Wright vs. Lions, Week 4
Let’s begin with the aforementioned illegal bat.
Down 13-10 with just under two minutes left, Matthew Stafford found an open Calvin Johnson inching toward the goal line. Kam Chancellor made the play of the night, forcing a fumble that bounced into the endzone.
Wright illegally batted the ball out of play.
Instead of being penalized -- giving the Lions the ball back on the six-inch line -- the Seahawks got the ball at their own 20. The game was over just a few plays later.

Chris Johnson vs. Ravens, Week 7
As the old adage goes, “play until you hear the whistle.”

Unfortunately for the Ravens, there was never a whistle, allowing Chris Johnson to scamper for 62 yards after the play should’ve been blown dead for forward progress.
The Play Clock vs. Chargers, Week 5
The Steelers staged a fourth-quarter comeback over the Chargers in Week 5, but no thanks to the officials and clock operators. Pittsburgh inexplicably lost 18 seconds on its final drive after the ball sailed through the end zone for a touchback.

Odell Beckham Jr. vs. Patriots, Week 10
This was a catch according to the NFL officials in Week 6.

Sammy Watkins vs. Patriots, Week 11
The Bills trailed the Patriots by a TD on Monday. Tyrod Taylor completed a pass to Sammy Watkins, who then rolled out of bounds at the 47.
Except -- at least according to the officials -- he didn’t.

Instead of the Bills having one final try at a Hail Mary, the final whistle blew. A game littered with mistakes couldn’t possibly have had a more fitting ending.
