Sheamus is on top of the WWE mountain, but the peak isn't as high as it used to be.

The company is flailing at the moment due to a lack of roster depth and terrible creative direction, and it was never more evident than Sunday night at Survivor Series, which was arguably the worst pay-per-view and WWE Network special of 2015. Roman Reigns won the WWE World Heavyweight Championship tournament, but he fell victim to Sheamus as the "Celtic Warrior" cashed in his Money in the Bank briefcase.

WWE Survivor Series Results & Review

It seems as though the WWE is going to run a Sheamus and Reigns program for the foreseeable future, but it may just be out of necessity. There is a dearth of real main event level talent right now in the WWE.

Randy Orton, Seth Rollins and Rusev are all on the shelf for various injuries, while Cesaro is rumored to be joining them due to a shoulder complication. John Cena is on hiatus right now as he begins a reality show project "American Grit."

AJ Lee's Book To Reveal Scandalous Secrets From WWE Career

Kevin Owens (Intercontinental) and Alberto Del Rio (United States) are each holding midcard titles. Guys like Dean Ambrose and Bray Wyatt just lost big matches, making them unlikely to get pushed into the main event spotlight.

That leaves very few people for Sheamus to defend his title against. Here are three possible adversaries for "The Celtic Warrior."

1) Roman Reigns

Might as well start with the obvious. Reigns was champion for all of two minutes before it all came crashing down on him. Though his reign was short-lived, the leader of the Roman Empire is entitled to a rematch by WWE terms and it seems likely that the most logical place for such a bout to occur would be at TLC: Tables, Ladders and Chairs on Dec. 13.

2) Brock Lesnar

There have been reports that "The Beast" won't be back on WWE television until the Royal Rumble in January, but the WWE may have to seriously consider adding dates to get him back into the fold. Lesnar has looked unstoppable during his latest run in Vince McMahon's company, but if there's anyone who provides an interesting matchup for him, it's Sheamus. The Irish Superstar can measure up to Lesnar and has enough of a physical move set to believably have a shot at knocking him off.

3) Ryback

This isn't the most popular choice, but based on kayfabe psychology, "The Big Guy" has a pretty good argument for being No. 1 contender. During the traditional Survivor Series bout that pit Ryback, The Usos and The Lucha Dragons against Sheamus, The New Day and Bad News Barrett, Ryback hit Shellshocked on Sheamus and pinned him to the mat to eliminate him and get the win for his team. After owning a pin fall victory over the eventual WWE World Heavyweight Champion, Ryback has as good a reason as anyone to demand a title shot.
