As if the Baltimore Ravens needed more bad news, quarterback Joe Flacco is out for the rest of the season because of an ACL injury.

The Ravens are 3-7 and it's going to be hard to make a playoff run now with Flacco sidelined. This is the first time in Flacco's career that he will have to sit out for a long period of time and it has come as a surprise to him

"I'm probably still in shock a little bit," Flacco told the Baltimore Sun: after the game. "You play football and you play as long as I have and you play as hard as we do out there, then stuff like this happens. You have to just stand tall and be tough about it. That's all you can do. I think that's the way I am about everything in my life, and I'm not going to be any different this time."

As Ravens cornerback Jimmy Smith put it, it's just more of the same for Balitmore this season.

"Isn't this just the way this season has been going?" he told the publication. "You lose five, six of our top players, our leaders. Just ...smile at it and keep pushing. That's all you can do."

Now, the Ravens have to turn to former Houston Texans quarterback Matt Schaub, who has struggled when he was the starter in other situations like this.

At this point, the Ravens have nothing to lose by playing Schaub because their season is almost over. All they can really hope for is that Flacco can recover in time to make it back next year and that Schaub doesn't screw up too badly, which may be asking a lot. But who knows, maybe he will play well and have the Raven's season end on a high note.
