In an interesting development this week, according to The Sports Quotient, the NFL has decided to fine Cardinals quarterback Carson Palmer for usportsmanlike conduct during the Arizona's victory over the Seattle Sunday.

It was a small fine, but still it was a fine nonetheless by the league. This comes on the heels of the controversy involving Panthers quarterback Cam Newton whose, endzone dance turned quite a few heads.

While Palmer's thrust wasn't really directed at anyone in particular, Panther's players and fans didn't take the dancing well at all; in fact one parent put pen to paper to show her dislike.

Which begs the question: Why was Palmer fined and not Newton? Wasn't Newton's dance more unsportsmanlike than Palmer's?

Newton actually did his little dance on the field and it took about a half a minute to do. Palmer's dance was on the sideline not directed at anyone yet, he was fined about $11,000 for it.

But you have to wonder what message is the NFL sending that you fine one quarterback for dancing, but not the other?

Sounds like the message the NFL is sending is that the bigger stars in the league can get away with certain things and the rest cannot. If this league was based on fairness, then Cam Newton should have been fine too, as it has demonstrated in the past, the NFL doesn't believe in fairness.
