Florida quarterback Will Grier's appeal to the NCAA was denied Friday. Grier, as you may recall, was suspended from the team because he took performance enhancement drugs.

A Gators spokesman said this via ESPN: "The appeal that was submitted to the NCAA was denied."

Grier's suspension came around the time of the LSU game which is the Gators' only loss. Although the Gators have continued to win games, the loss of Grier can easily be seen on the Gators' offense.

When Florida wrapped up the SEC East a few weeks ago, it was in a 10-9 victory over lowly Vanderbilt. In that game, as you can see, they struggled mightily.

When Grier was in the line-up, the Gators offense was on point. It wasn't a Steve Spurrier-type offense, but it was efficient and moved the football. Even in the LSU loss, the Gators managed to move the ball.

But other than that game, they have been stagnant. Backup quarterback Treon Harris is neither the quarterback nor leader that Grier was.

Harris has managed to keep the boat afloat so far, but for how long before it catches up to them. In all likelihood, the Gators will be facing Alabama's front seven who not only shut down Mississippi State quarterback Dak Prescott, but LSU running back Leonard Fournette which are two of the best players in the league.

If the Gators don't get it together in the next couple of weeks, it's going to be a long day for them in the SEC Championship Game no matter who they face.
