Today at 2:30 p.m. PT Saul “Canelo” Alvarez and Miguel Cotto will step on the scales at Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas, and weigh in for their massive showdown Saturday night. Watch the weigh-in free online by clicking below.

Before Cotto was stripped of his WBC middleweight title for refusing to pay the WBC a $300,000 sanctioning fee, this bout was for the middleweight division’s top prize. These two, however, agreed to a 155-pound catch weight for this fight, five pounds below the 160 pounds middleweights typically weigh in at.

Alvarez has campaigned his whole career as a junior middleweight, but the time seems ripe for him to move up to middleweight full-time. Alvarez has struggled with his weight during this camp, Boxing Scene reports, and Cotto’s trainer Freddie Roach thinks it will be an advantage for his fighter.

“When we get into the ring he’s going to be a lot bigger than us, but that might be a mistake for him because too much weight and too much fluid slows you down,” Roach said.

Cotto won’t have any fear of Alvarez based on his weight. Before fighting Daniel Geale Cotto forced him to weigh 157 pounds; Geale made the weight but it was a struggle, and then Geale weighed 182 pounds in street clothes on fight night. Should Alvarez look skeletal when he steps on the scale, interested bettors may want to consider a wager on the Puerto Rican.
