Bernard Hopkins is already 51 years old but as far as he is concerned, he is not yet officially retired. And with that said, The Alien seems to be looking at a proper send-off which could happen in either April or May of 2016.

Hopkins, a many time boxing champion and currently a minority partner for Golden Boy Promotions, is setting his sights on last title fight. His target? WBO champion Arthur Abraham.

Apparently both sides have already held talks although a lot would depend on how Abraham fares this coming Saturday when he faces a tough Martin Murray.

If Abraham is able to get past Murray, a possible tiff between Hopkins and Abraham is likely to happen by April or May. But if Abraham loses, he may have to look for someone else who holds a world boxing title.

Among his options include James DeGale for the IBF title, Badou Jack (WBC champion) and Fedor Chudinov (WBA title). But the problem is that these guys are under Al Haymon which could hinder seeing Hopkins facing any of the mentioned boxing champs.

So it may eventually boil down to who wins on Saturday between Abraham or Murray. Hopkins is looking for a little bit of popularity and of course someone who is a champion to make a grand exit. Abraham apparently fits the bill though Murray is not so much.

Whatever happens, Hopkins wants one last fight before he officially hangs it all up.

“It has to be somebody that people can recognize. I don’t want to fight anyone where they go, ‘Oh, he’s a champion, but we don’t know him’” says Hopkins via the Boxing Junkie on his planned last fight for 2016.
