As everyone may have heard by now, Kevin McHale was unceremoniously fired by the Houston Rockets for a bad start though many believe that the team’s performance cannot be pinned totally to the former Boston Celtic great.

McHale has had a rough start and such has overshadowed the fact that he was the same guy that helped lead the team to the Western Conference Finals despite improvising due to point guard problems..

Should the Lakers Fire Byron Scott?

Looking at his record, McHale hasn’t done totally bad at all for the Rockets. He is coming off a 56-26 season and holds a coaching batting average of 193-130. So who in his right mind could overlook that?

Apparently a lot of people disagreed with how the Rockets fired McHale but the Hall of Famer is expected to be picked up by one team soon. And one of the teams interested in hiring him is his old team, the Boston Celtics.

Boston Celtics president and former teammate Danny Ainge is interested in hiring McHale on a consultancy role where he would help in the development of the Celtics frontline (Jared Sullinger, Kelly Olynk and Amir Johnson).

"I told Kevin that today," said Ainge via the Boston Herald. "We've got a spot for him. I know we could figure something out for him in some capacity, but I think he's just in a wait and see mode”.

But the Boston Celtics are not the only team expected to make a run at McHale who holds a .556 winning percentage over four years in coaching.

Several teams are bound to try and look into his availability as well though it may not come immediate with McHale expected to lay low and perhaps away from the NBA scene for now. On which team eventually hooks him is anyone’s guess but a return to Boston certainly seems like a grand idea.
