Cowboys owner Jerry Jones, who fancies himself as a man who likes to give second chances, gave out another one to a running back on Wednesday.

The noteworthy part of the latest second chance is that it was not given to Ray Rice.

Jerry Jones' Backing Of Greg Hardy Reeks Of Hypocrisy

Robert Turbin, who broke into the league with the Seahawks in 2012, signed with Dallas. The Browns waived Turbin on Tuesday. The Cowboys waived Christine Michael to make room for Turbin.

The 25-year-old Turbin had 18 carries for 60 yards in three games for Cleveland. He fell out of favor with the team after suffering a pair of fumbles, Pro Football Talk reported.

Greg Hardy Has No Reason To Express Remorse Like Ray Rice

"He's been a good player in the league," Cowboys head coach Jason Garrett said, according to The Dallas Morning News. "He's was a backup there in Seattle for a couple of years and did a good job when he got his opportunities. He got banged up at the end of the preseason, so I think that put them in a roster situation where they had to move on from him.

"He's a guy we've been interested in. We've liked him. He's played well in the league. We liked him coming out and we had an opportunity to get him and we feel like he can help our football team."

Turbin has 988 career rushing yards on 249 carries, and he's also proven to be an adept receiver out of the backfield, with 45 career receptions for 435 yards and a pair of TDs.

Rice, who has not played since 2013 because of his suspension from the NFL in 2014 (overturned later in the season), has had four seasons of more than the 1,423 total yards Turbin has amassed in his career.

Jones repeatedly has gone out of his way to defend his signing of defensive end Greg Hardy, who, like Rice, has a past marred by a domestic violence charge. Since returning to the league after serving a four-game suspension based on that charge, it's safe to say that Hardy's presence has been about as much of a distraction as Rice's signing would be for the Cowboys -- or any other NFL team.

The fact that Jones hasn't afforded Rice the same opportunity he gave Hardy is mind-boggling.

A report from AOL.com in September indicated that 27 players with multiple arrests were on NFL teams. The fact that no NFL team has given Rice a chance is suspicious.
