News came out of Houston Wednesday that the Rockets have fired Kevin McHale.

"The team was not responding to Kevin," general manager Daryl Morey said. "There is no time in the West."

He's right about that. The season is already underway and the Golden State Warriors are still undefeated and may be on their way to a 70 win season, so the Rockets, who are 4-7, felt they needed a change now only 11 games into the season; some think the LA Lakers are next or should be next.

The Lakers so far have won just two games on the season and look bad in most of them.

No one expected the Lakers to be a playoff team, but they did expect them to look and play better and so far they haven't.

You can blame it on Kobe, the young talent, but some place it at the feet of Byron Scott.

Some say that Scott is hurting the team and is not doing a very good job of developing the Lakers young guns.

Many thought when the Lakers brought in Scott that he could return them to the golden days of the Lakers Showtime when played with Magic Johnson, but so far it hasn't happened.

But the good news for Scott is that at least one player is on his side and that's Kobe Bryant.

Kobe apparently was consoling Scott the other night on the plane home after another Lakers loss according to the LA Times.

"He said, 'You look like you're ready to kill somebody,'' Scott said Saturday. '"I said, Man, I'm just so frustrated.''

Scott's philosophy is to win by playing well defensively first, and then they can produce offensively.

So far, the Lakers seem to be willing to give Scott a chance to see if this works, but how long is the question.
