The rumblings depend on the severity of Sam Bradford's concussion, but the Eagles need help at quarterback and there a free agent out there that is familiar with the team's offense.

Tim Tebow still is a college football analyst for now, but if Bradford misses multiple games over the concussion and shoulder injuries he suffered during the Eagles' 20-19 loss to the Dolphins on Sunday, how long does coach Chip Kelly wait before making that phone call?

Veteran Mark Sanchez replaced Bradford, who had been playing better in his last two games after a disappointing start to the season, in the middle of the third quarter.

Sanchez completed 14-of-23 passes for 156 yards with no touchdowns and one interception -- a huge one.

With more than four minutes remaining in the fourth quarter, Philadelphia had a second down at the Miami 11 when Sanchez tried to force a pass to Miles Austin in the end zone.

Dolphins defensive back Reshad Jones picked off the Sanchez pass, killing a drive in which the Eagles needed only a field goal to take the lead. The pick ended up preserving Miami's victory.

"Nevertheless, rather than dump the ball off to tight end Brent Celek, Sanchez tries to throw (to) Austin," Philly.com reported. "The interception was just one of a dozen unforced errors by the Eagles on Sunday, of their giving away a game to a lesser opponent, but understand: If Sanchez throws the ball out of bounds there, if he takes a sack, if he just falls to the ground, the Eagles probably win. In context, his decision is downright reckless, and his coach didn't bother defending him for it.

"We were hoping he would just take a peek," Kelly said to Philly.com. "If you don't have it because they're in coverage -- it looked to me like Brent was open underneath -- just dump it down and play the next snap."

After the game, the Eagles rallied around Sanchez, indicating they didn't see a big drop off from Bradford to his backup.

"We practice with both quarterbacks all the time," receiver Josh Huff said, according to NJ.com. "So with Sanchez coming in, it really didn't bother us that much. Obviously we lost a leader in Sam Bradford, but the focus is going to be on Mark going forward."

Philadelphia sits with an underachieving mark of 4-5. Sanchez just had an opportunity to win a game but didn't on Sunday.

Bringing in Tebow has zero risk factor because the Eagles already are in danger of missing the playoffs, but he could be the spark the sputtering offense needs.

If Kelly is not considering it, then he deserves to be on the hot seat for giving Tebow all that time in the preseason with the Eagles offense when he could have been auditioning another quarterback.
