After Stanford lost in the closing minutes of their game against Oregon, the Pac 12 was putting all its playoff hopes on Utah, which was supposed to blow out Arizona. Somebody forgot to tell the Wildcats that.

Arizona handed Utah a 37-30 double overtime los, pretty much killing the Pac 12's hopes of making it back to the college football playoffs this year.

Just a few weeks ago, Utah was climbing up the polls and was the favorite out of the Pac 12 to not only win the conference, but represent them in the college football playoffs, but then they played USC and reality set in; the Trojans smashed the Utes.

Then everyone's attention turned to Stanford who after an earlier lost to Northwestern, bounced back to be just outside of the top four for a playoff spot. Many thought that the Notre Dame/Stanford game may decide the last playoff berth; now it looks like that game will hold little to no meaning.

"All is not lost. We need to show resilience and toughness." said Coach Kyle Whittingham of Utah through the team's Twitter feed.

The coach could not only be talking about his team, but the Pac 12 as well.

True, all is not lost, but it might as well be. The Pac 12's defeats by Utah and Stanford pretty much cleared the way for the Big 12, which looked to be on the outside looking if either club ran the table.

But thanks to the Pac 12, they made the college football playoff committee's job a lot easier this week.
