There is no question that Stephen Curry was molded in the same way that his dad was when the latter played in the NBA.

The feathery shooting touch is proof of how Dell Curry molded his offspring and now the results are out; his son just shattered his old record for career three pointers.

Stephen Curry surpassed his dad’s record with about three minutes left in the third quarter of the Warrior’s game against the Nets, jacking up his total to 1,246 which is just one more than where his father left off.

What was even more amazing is that the 27-year-old reigning MVP did it in just 427 games which now moves him to the 42nd spot of the NBA’s all-time three-point club.

Seeing the hot shooting that Stephen has been turning out lately, reaching the milestone was hardly surprising. He ended last season with 286 three-pointers, which even broke his previous set record of 272 back in 2012-13.

Dell Curry was known back in the day as one of the league’s deadly three point artists. He shot 40% or better from deep for eight straight seasons though unlike his son, it took lesser attempts from beyond the arc.

At the rate that Steph is going, he is bound to break his old record yet again and unsurprisingly move up further in the NBA ranks as one of the feared players who can hit the trey.

"I knew about it going into the game," said Curry via ESPN.com. "It's a pretty special moment for my family. I'm sure he never dreamt of the day one of his sons would pass him."
