WBC middleweight champion Miguel Cotto and Mexican challenger Canelo ‘Saul’ Alvarez are barely a week away from their much awaited clash and now the critics have started to come out and air their piece.

While others have already made their forecast, there is one pediction that should come with some weight since he has faced both Cotto and Alvarez before – Sugar Shane Mosley.

Mosley lost to the Puerto Rican back in 2007 via close unanimous decision and also lost five years later to Alvarez via unanimous decision in a one-sided fight.

So if those two fights were used as a gauge, does it mean that he feels Alvarez has the edge?

Mosley feels that experience will prevail this coming Saturday and his pick is Cotto. It is the Puerto Rican’s flexibility and ability to adapt to the tide of the fight that makes him Mosley’s choice.

“I think Cotto has a little bit of an advantage because of the experience,” Mosley said via Fighthub. “Cotto has been around the block a little bit longer and he knows how to fight guys to win. With Canelo right now, I don’t know if he knows how to find a way to win.”

Aside from Mosley, other common opponents that Cotto and Alvarez have faced in the past include Floyd Mayweather Jr., Alfonso Gomez and Austin Trout.

As it is shaping up, it will be interesting on which will actually prevail. Some have singled out Alvarez’s hunger and youth while like Mosley, there are others who believe that Cotto’s experience will prevail.

Don’t miss out on the Miguel Cotto vs. Canelo Alvarez fight, set for Saturday at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas. The event can be seen via HBO pay-per-view starting at 9 p.m. ET/ 6 p.m. PT.
