In John Cena's latest round of injury updates on his official Twitter account, he revealed a picture of his arm wrapped up in certain athletic tape known as SpiderTech, which could mean the WWE Superstar is closer to returning than originally thought.
Cena sported the tape on his right arm last fall when he was recovering from an injury, and made it back in time to wrestle CM Punk and Ryback in a triple threat match for the WWE title at last November's Survivor Series pay-per-view, which is a good sign for him possibly returning quicker than his originally scheduled January return date following surgery on his left triceps that he underwent back in August.
While Cena has been making some great progress and is known to make speedy recoveries back from injuries, he still noted via his Twitter account that he's still in a lot of pain.
Cena announced on Aug. 19 that he'll be missing a good amount of time because of his injury:
Rumors circulated over the weekend that Cena may be slated to return in November when the WWE goes overseas for a tour of the United Kingdom, but possibly in a non-wrestling fashion. If Cena appears as advertised, he will likely serve as a mouthpiece to cut promos on the microphone and help the WWE with ticket sales during its tour.
If the return does come to fruition, it would go against what Cena has said in past weeks as when he was rumored to be returning to an on-screen non-wrestling role in October to be the mouthpiece for WWE's Breast Cancer Awareness Month initiative, he shot the rumors down by saying he won't return until he's actively ready to compete and go after the WWE title.
Cena has been keeping the WWE Universe apprised of his recovery through Twitter, and is seemingly rehabbing really hard to get back to the ring before January after he was said in August he was slated to miss four-to-six months following the operation and that January's Royal Rumble pay-per-view was listed as his most-likely return date.
While Cena is being advertised for the WWE's U.K. Tour, the company's website notes that everything listed on the card and advertised is always subject to change. WrestleZone.com reported Monday that a fan in Nottingham, England said that Cena has been advertised to appear there when that leg of the tour is scheduled, but the advertisement lists it as "a special appearance" by Cena.
Cena would most likely cut in-ring promos to entertain the crowd rather than wrestle, which could be just what the Superstar needs after his countless tweets about suffering through watching Monday Night RAW each week from home rather than being in action.
Sheamus meanwhile has shown pictures of himself having a good time during his time off rather than revealing his post-surgery wounds like Cena has been posting. Sheamus recently tweeted a joke about getting a shoulder workout with his remote while watching RAW and also posted a picture of himself preparing to knock back a Guinness at a bar.
"The Celtic Warrior" has been sidelined after shoulder surgery, but looks to be enjoying some of his free time and recharging himself for his eventual return while Cena is trying to speed up his recovery period.
Sheamus' injury could stem from a crazy fall through a ladder at this past July's Money in the Bank pay-per-view:
While both of these athletes are taking different paths to recovery, they're keeping their fans in the loop as to how their recovery is going through Twitter.
