Nick Saban could be invited back into the NFL in 2016.

Colts owner Jim Irsay already witnessed an era of Indianapolis football with only one Super Bowl ring with Peyton Manning as quarterback. He doesn't want to see that happen again in the Andrew Luck era.

That's why Irsay could fire coach Chuck Pagano and make a serious push for the Alabama head man, Indianapolis journalist Bob Kravitz told an Indianapolis radio station, according to Pro Football Talk.

"Jim Irsay does not believe that Chuck Pagano is the guy who can take him to where he wants to go," Kravitz said. "He's talking about not just one Super Bowl, but multiple Super Bowls in the Andrew Luck era."

While Pagano being on the hot seat is not surprising, Kravitz said that Irsay also would be willing to kick Indianapolis general manager Ryan Grigson to the curve if that were to entice Saban to leave the Crimson Tide.

"Jim Irsay is going to make the next coaching hire," Kravitz said. "If he brings in a guy who demands full power, like, say, a Nick Saban, who I think he's going to go after, if he brings in a Nick Saban, he's going to have full power and that means that Ryan Grigson will either be kicked to the curb or he'll have a different role in the organization."

The report has been met with skepticism -- not over what Irsay is thinking, but rather because of how the 64-year-old Saban might respond, as in he may not respond to the Colts at all.

ESPN's Mike Greenberg tweeted with confidence that Saban won't leave Alabama.

That sentiment also appeared in an article on The Big Lead.

"But why is Saban leaving his glorious bubble in Tuscaloosa for the NFL at this age?," The Big Lead asked. "The Tide are #2 in the college football playoff rankings, favored to win their final three games and the SEC title game against Florida. The Tide will be back in the college football playoff. They currently have the 6th best recruiting class in 2016, and a slew of Top 20 recruits have listed the Tide, but are yet to sign. The future continues to be rosy in Alabama.

"Short of something unforeseen happening in the next few months -- say, a massive scandal at Alabama -- why is Saban leaving Alabama? Can anyone name a logical reason besides, 'the chance to coach Andrew Luck?'"

Coaches, however, are a different breed, and sometime the unthinkable does occur.
