LeBron James has been known to keep promises and perhaps the one with utmost priority is handing the Cleveland Cavaliers their first NBA title. However, taking time out for a good cause wouldn’t hurt.

James went out of his way to somehow provide extra motivation for an 19-year old high school football coach who is not expected to live beyond his 20s. His name is Emanuel Duncan who is beset by Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy.

His story was put up over at the Indianapolis Star and included in the article was a bucket list. The list itemized the things that kept Duncan motivated and going and one of those was to meet LeBron James.

“That’s the one thing I want to do. Meet LeBron James. That’s my role model. He inspires me to do everything. To be a good person, to put other people first, to live your life and do what makes you happy. If I meet LeBron James, that would make my day. I wouldn’t ask for anything.”

James was apparently able to read the letter but may unfortunately be unable to head on over there to grant his wish (for now). Instead, the Cleveland Cavaliers star did the next best thing by writing Duncan a personal letter.

Towards the end of the letter it reads:

They make me think of the PROMISES I have made to myself and others. Here’s one for you and me to share as we work with kids… I PROMISE TO NEVER GIVE UP.

For now, the letter should be enough to keep up the spirits of Duncan. But then again and as James stated in the letter, NEVER GIVE UP.

The Cleveland Pacers will pay the Indiana Pacers a visit on Feb. 1, 2016, so if there is time, there could be a chance for James to pay Duncan a visit.
