Don Shula -- who coached the Dolphins to an undefeated season in 1972 -- admitted he wants the Panthers to match his record in 2015.

Cam Newton Is The Real MVP Favorite, Not Tom Brady

“That would make me so proud if that happened,” Shula said, per Charlotte Observer. “I’d love to see the Panthers do it. I’m rooting them on, that’s for sure.”

Naturally, Shula has a rooting interest in seeing the Panthers go 19-0. His son, Mike, is the offensive coordinator for the team. But there are other reasons for the former Dolphins head coach, chief among them silencing Mercury Morris.

Dan Campbell Finally Receives His Wake Up Call

Year in and year out, NFL fans have been subjected to the bombastic former RB. His comments on the remaining undefeated teams are the only life lines on his relevancy.

Even the current landscape of the NFL refused to escape him.

"It means nothing that you're 8-0, or 9-0, 10-0, 11-0, 12-0, 13-0, 14-0, 15-0, 16-0, 17-0, 18-0," Morris told ESPN.com. "Then, you gotta win [the Super Bowl].

“Ask the 2008 Patriots. They already made their championship shirts."

The only thing worse for the casual NFL observer would’ve been Patriots fans celebrating a 19-0 season after spygate, but there’s no obnoxious consequence surrounding Carolina.

Cam Newton’s success would be welcomed by all. Especially tortured souls exhausted with Miami’s habitual journey back to 1972.
